In vielen englischsprachigen Ländern (Großbritannien, Irland, USA, Kanada, Südafrika, Australien, Neuseeland) darf die Dame nur ein Feld weit ziehen (engl. Draughts, in den USA Checkers). Mit Damen, die nur ein Feld weit ziehen dürfen, ist ein Endspiel von zwei Damen gegen eine (bis auf eine Ausnahme) immer zugunsten der zwei Damen gewonnen.
